Why the messages make 8 hours to reach their recipient

If I send a private message now, it will reach the recipient's email after 8 hours, this is normal

have just tested with me 2 minutes until the email comes

Sometimes it is actually 2 minutes, sometimes it is 8 hours, I can not explain it

It depends on the cron job setting and number of emails that need to be sent out from your site. If you have many emails that need to be sent out  it will be delayed.
