500 Internal Server Error

First, I am not a programmer or fluent in PHP. Our site was working great, really exicted about going live with it. Then, all of sudden, we start getting the 500 Internal Server Error. We cannot figure out why as it does not appear we did anything wrong. I was told by someone who is supposed to know about PHP that the index.php was closed wrong and it became truncated. I do not know what that means, if there is a way to fix it or how to fix it. I have created a support ticket but if anyone here can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Hi do you have screen shots?
What was you doing at the time?
Was the site live to other people?
Check to see if any of your files are corrupt. Start with the index.php file in the webroot directory.
If you have edited any of the files, it maybe a simple as one file coursing this.
Are there any links to the error on the 500 Internal Server Error page to more details?
Check to see if your database has all of its tables.
Have you made any backups of files and the database?
Always backup, backup, ...  more
how did you fix it? have the same problem
I'm having the same issue. Running php7.2
